Hesperia appoints Multiplex to undertake forward works at MHKP

Hesperia has assigned global construction company, Multiplex to execute forward works on Stage 1A of the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct.

Hesperia and Multiplex plan to finalise a Design and Construct contract and commence building works later this year, with the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct (MHKP) expected to be completed by early 2023. The construction of Stage 1A will generate approximately 3,000 jobs and inject $250 million into the local economy.

Hesperia Director Kyle Jeavons said the appointment of Multiplex, which followed a competitive tender process, was a major milestone that brought certainty to the project.

“Multiplex has significant experience in campus style construction and pre-existing relationships with both major hospitals in Murdoch, which is integral given the operating environment,” said Kyle.

Paul Race, Regional Director at Multiplex, said MHKP was a welcome addition to their extensive healthcare experience, which includes the successful delivery of WA’s largest ever health infrastructure project at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Hesperia to deliver such a significant project in a precinct we are very familiar with, having completed the neighbouring Fiona Stanley Hospital and St John of God Murdoch in recent years,” said Mr Race.

“In addition to job creation, we’re invested in this project to contribute to the broader community and will be working with Multiplex to assess local procurement opportunities,” Kyle said.

Upon completion of construction, MHKP will be the largest employment hub outside the Perth CBD, home to 1,200 dwellings and 45,000sqm of health, retail and commercial space.

Development of Stage 1A will include the following:
• Thirteen-storey hotel
• Nine-storey aged care facility
• Five-storey office building
• Six-storey retail, medical consulting suites and childcare building
• Ten-storey mixed medical centre and office
• WA’s first medihotel.

• Hospitality and retail offerings through the landscaped podium levels
