Alex Hotel among Australia’s most beautiful at Dulux awards

Alex Hotel has been named one of Australia’s best commercial projects at the 2016 Dulux Colour Awards.
Now in their 30th year, the Dulux Colour Awards celebrate the use of colour in residential, commercial and public design. Hesperia’s Northbridge boutique hotel was one of 10 projects recognised at this year’s awards.
Winners were determined by a panel of judges drawn from some of the design industry’s most respected practitioners, including Meryl Hare of Hare + Klein Interior Design, Clare Cousins Architects director Clare Cousins, and Design Institute of Australia director James Harper.
Alex Hotel’s interiors, designed by Sydney-based Arent & Pyke, received the Best Commercial Interior Project award in the Public Spaces and Hospitality category.
The Dulux Colour Awards judging panel described the Alex Hotel interiors as an example of how “a strategic yet subtle approach to colour” resulted in effortless sophistication.
“Raw and refined, a beautiful, unusual palette evokes a sense of relaxation and serenity with clever and well thought out precision, creating a homely and immersive environment,” the panel said.
