Murdoch Square

WA's newest healthcare precinct

Murdoch Square is Western Australia’s newest landmark mixed-use healthcare precinct, setting a new benchmark for innovation, connectivity, and community wellbeing. Opened in early 2024, the integrated development comprises five architecturally designed buildings connected by a shared three-level basement car park. It brings together WA’s first Courtyard by Marriott hotel, an aged care facility, specialist medical suites, WA’s first medi-hotel, commercial office space, and a private hospital within a single, highly accessible destination.

At the heart of the precinct, a landscaped plaza featuring cafés and dining options creates a welcoming town-centre atmosphere and encourages year-round activation. Murdoch Square also includes residential units, including specialist apartments thoughtfully designed for people with disabilities.

Project Background

The heart of the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct.

As the inaugural stage of the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct (MHKP) and part of the broader Murdoch Activity Centre (MAC), a State Government strategic priority area, Murdoch Square is strategically positioned to meet the needs of a rapidly growing catchment. Directly adjacent to two of WA’s largest tertiary hospitals and only 13 kilometres from the Perth CBD, the precinct has been purposefully designed as a community asset that supports tertiary education, research, clinical services and the future of health in Western Australia.

Project Details

Maximising the use of location and space to create a truly mixed-use development.

Murdoch Square offers excellent accessibility, with major bus, road and rail networks close by. On site, specialist medical consulting suites and commercial offices sit alongside a childcare centre, retail outlets, and a range of food and beverage options.

A 150-key international hotel offers facilities including a gym and restaurant. Residential apartments at the precinct include specialist disability accommodation, along with a 182 bed aged care facility. In a first for Western Australia, the precinct will also house a 80 bed medi-hotel with the capacity to accommodate patients undergoing treatment and recovery from nearby tertiary facilities inherently reducing the demand on the hospital system.

The project delivers over 80,000sqm of gross floor area set across 1.2 hectares of land. Connecting 5 buildings across three green titles with a united basement and plaza.
