2023 Ride for Youth Fundraiser

Four new and experienced cyclists will be representing Hesperia in this year’s Hawaiian Ride for Youth event. The 700km ride is held in March each year across four and a half days, with cyclists covering Western Australia’s South west, Great Southern and Wheatbelt regions.

Hesperia has proudly sponsored the event since 2018, and this year staff members Gráinne Byrne, Tim Sondalini, Richard Stroud and Tim Tjhung will be taking on the inland route peloton to raise funds and awareness for Youth Focus and its mental health services.

To support our cyclists in the lead up to the event, Hesperia recently held a fundraising afternoon at Servo in Leederville. The afternoon was a great success with $21,747 raised from ticket sales and the live auction for Youth Focus.

Director Kyle Jeavons was the MC for the evening, encouraging the highest bids on each of the items up for auction and the soothing voice of Bryan Finn set the late afternoon tone.

Our cyclists revealed their vigorous training regime ahead of the ride and attendees heard from Youth Focus’ Kirsty Staples who shared the critical services they offer to support young Western Australians.

During the four-day event, our cyclists are looking forward to speaking at schools to educate students on issues of youth suicide, depression, anxiety and self-harm, while raising awareness of the services that Youth Focus provides.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the fundraiser for their support and generosity, as well as our incredible donors who made the auction possible: Prendiville Group, Fini Group, Larry Cherubino, Bike Bar, Sals Pasta, Lamonts Cottesloe, ARTRAGE, Wholesome Market, Elite Cycles, Community Coffee Co, Dilly Dally, Wilson Brewing, Ian and Erick, and Lulu La Delizia.
