Commercial & Hospitality
Designed around the concept of ‘Hotel as Home’, the Alex Hotel wholeheartedly embraces the independent traveller ethos: small rooms, large communal living areas, environmentally conscious and ‘of the place'.
Local architecture firm, Spaceagency together with interior design studio Arent & Pyke, delivered spaces that are underpinned by four key themes.
The themes were: the personal, the escape, the craft and the legacy. This unique approach helped to create a sense of familiarity, connectedness and domesticity for hotel guests. The result is a mix of lively public spaces with tranquil nooks including:
- Lobby Café & Lounge
- Mezzanine Lounge & Honour Bar
- Rooftop Terraces
- Shadow Wine Bar

Located on a tight, L-shaped block, Alex Hotel is situated in a complex urban condition, with adjoining heritage buildings, dual street frontages and laneway access.
At the heart of Perth’s cultural precinct, the 74-room hotel is a stone’s throw from the Art Gallery of WA, WA Museum, State Theatre Centre and Perth’s central train station.
Alex Hotel was thoughtfully designed to encourage guests to spend less time in their rooms and more time in the generous communal spaces.
