New partnership to see well-loved Leederville site become home to ABN Group headquarters

An under-utilised space in the heart of Leederville will receive a new lease on life through an alliance between Hesperia and ABN Group.

The alliance will see the former Leederville Hotel carpark site, owned by Hesperia, transformed into a new 9,000 square metre headquarters for ABN Group’s seven businesses which include several residential construction brands, land development, property finance and apartment development.

ABN Group managing director Dale Alcock said the decision to pursue development of the Leederville site with Hesperia followed an extensive 12-month search for a suitable location.

“Going out and looking for 9,000 square metres, in a location that you want with the amenity [you need] – can you find it in what’s already built? You can’t,” he said.

“When we narrowed it down to our last two proponents it became a pretty easy decision. Part of that on our part was respect for [Hesperia] being a long-term landlord, not just a developer.

“It’s great to know that you’re in it together for the journey, and that you’ll get the best outcome.”

The Leederville project is the second major collaboration between Hesperia and ABN Group – the first was Hesperia’s Subiaco headquarters, constructed by ABN Group – and Hesperia founding director Adrian Fini said it was an exciting prospect to bring the site to life.

“We’ve been property owners for 30 years in Leederville; we love Leederville and we’ve watched it become what is probably the most exciting village in Perth,” he said.

“We’ve just been waiting for 27 years for the right partner to make this one happen.

“We’d been looking for someone who we respect and who we’d worked with, and I think ABN Group and Dale have provided a great opportunity.”

ABN Group’s new Leederville headquarters will comprise offices tailored to each of its businesses, plus a retail showroom. The $35 million project is expected to be completed by mid-2021.
