5-Star Green Star Certification for ABN Office Building

ABN Group’s flagship office in Leederville has been awarded a 5-Star Green Star Design and As Built rating by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).

Sustainable initiatives have been integrated throughout the ABN Building, including solar panels, electric car charging infrastructure, end-of-trip facilities and dedicated waste storage, allowing for the different waste streams to be separated to match the local recycling scheme.

Green Star Design and As Built is an internationally recognised rating system that assesses the sustainability outcomes from the design and construction of a project against nine holistic impact categories. It also aims to encourage the industry to create buildings that are not just green but healthy, liveable, productive, resilient and sustainable.

Driven by our Sustainability Strategy 2021 – 2026, Hesperia has integrated sustainable initiatives into every project at Hesperia. Our sustainability group supports teams to capture and deliver on opportunities within each project, ensuring alignment to the Strategy.

Director Kyle Jeavons said GBCA recognition is important verification of the sustainability initiatives at the ABN Office.

“We are committed to adopting international best practice across our projects, and this independent recognition signifies that we are on the right track as a business,” Kyle said.

ABN Building comprises a five-level office and ground floor showroom for ABN Group, complete with a bustling food laneway and entertainment precinct creating critical pedestrian connections from Vincent Street through to Newcastle Street. Standing on what was the old Leederville Hotel carpark, the building spans 10,000 square metres and houses more than 900 ABN Group employees.

Thank you to the Green Building Council of Australia for this recognition and congratulations to everyone involved in this project.
